Importing the Referral Template - General

If you plan on using your practice management software for electronic referrals, follow these instructions. The Referral form is an RTF (rich text file) you can import as a template into your practice management software. Download this file (see the Downloads list below) to your desktop and follow these steps:

Do not open the RTF in Word. This will alter the template fields.

  1. Open your practice management software
  2. Click the document icon
  3. Click “templates”, select import templates
  4. Find the Holter Monitoring - CloudHolter referral form and select open.
  5. If you are part of a practice network, ensure your location is specified in the practice name fields.
  6. Click File, select save as.
  7. Check “available to all users”, and save.
  8. Please add the template to favourites if possible, as this will assist your GP’s to find the correct template.

NOTE: A recent Windows update is automatically converting downloaded .rtf files into .docx files, which makes it difficult to import to some practice management software. If you use a Windows computer you may have more success downloading a zipped version of your required template.

Download instructions for zipped RTFs:

  1. Download the appropriate version of the referral template for your practice management software
    1. Ensure that you are using the Holter templates (left) for Holter tests, and the ECG templates (right) for ECG tests
  2. Locate the downloaded Zip file and right click on it, then select Extract All
  3. Select a location where you would like the RTF file to be extracted to (saved to) for loading into your software (eg Desktop or Downloads)
  4. Open your software and import the template from where you just extracted/saved the RTF. Please see above instructions for your software.

Please note - if you use practice management software other than Best Practice or Medical Director, you will probably have the best results with the Blank rtf file or the Fillable pdf.
